‘Soft’ expenses are additional costs indirectly related to services rendered in relation to a client or matter. These could include internal copying, internal word processing, facsimile, postage, court parking, mileage local travel, and out of town travel.
‘Hard’ expenses are directly related to services rendered in relation to a client or matter. These could include court filing fees, subpoena fees, deposition expenses, trial exhibits, trial transcripts, litigation support vendors, and witness fees.
