Practice Areas
With the general section settings completed, you're ready to start creating your practice areas. Each practice area is represented by its own "box" within the 'Practice areas' section. As you add additional areas of practice, more boxes will be added to this section.
Each practice area consists of a title, description, icon (if you have enabled them), and a background color or image:
Title
- To change the title of this section, overwrite the default text in the 'Title' field
- You may use up to 256 characters here, but we recommend short titles.
Description
- To add a description, replace the sample description content in the 'Description' field
- You may use up to 400 characters here.
Icon
- If you have enabled icons, drag and drop an icon into the box in icon menu, or click 'Select a file' to locate a file on your hard drive.
- We recommend using a PNG file format with a transparent background, so your icons aren't bound on the edges with a color (Compare the two images below). If you are not well versed in design, you may want to secure some assistance from a graphic designer:

- IMPORTANT:
- Make sure you have appropriate permissions or licenses to use any image or icon your Professional Website
- If you have enabled icons, you must have an icon uploaded for each area of practice before you can publish your changes, otherwise your changes will not publish.
- This is to protect the look and feel of your website, so your 'Area of practice' section is visually consistent and appealing for your website visitors.
Background
You can use a background color for each practice area box, or a custom image:
Color:
- To set a background color for your practice area, click the 'Color' radio button
- Click the color box next to 'Background color'. This will open a window where you can use sliders to select a color, or enter any HEX or RGB color values:
- Selecting a color will change the color of the practice area content box
- NOTE: If you choose to use background colors, we recommend using the same background color for each practice area to provide a consistent experience for your website visitors.
Custom Image:
- To use a custom image as a background for each practice area, click the 'Custom image' radio button and drag and drop the image you wish to use.
- TIPS:
- Be sure to use an image that doesn't compete visually with your text. For example, if your main website text is set to a dark color, you should use a lighter image without many dark patches that will make your text hard to read. If your website text is lighter, use a darker background image without any bright or white spots that will make your text hard to read.
- As with icons, be sure you possess the appropriate permission or licenses for any of the images you use on your Professional Website.
Once you are done creating your practice areas, publish your changes by clicking the 'Publish' button in the upper right corner of your screen.
- TIP:
- Make sure you have your practice area titles and descriptions saved in a separate document. This way, if you ever lose your work or you lose connectivity, you've got your content available.
